*11 WEEK : INDOOR & OUTDOOR & PORTABLE / WIFI SHIELD

#Indoor & Outdoor & Portable
Today, i will reported about my progress on Week 9th. For this week, i had discuss w my sv about the workscope or the limitation of my project, i had confirm about the characteristics of my project, which is, my project can be used indoor and outdoor. The most important thing is, it is not exposed to wet surface. Next, my project is portable device. This project is mild and small, so it will be easy to user to bring itt everywhere. In addition this device is using battery, does not need external supply.

#Wifi-Shield
From the previous post, i had mention that i had confirm to use Arduino Uno and Arduino Ethernet Shield for as a processor for my Air Quality Monitoring System. But, after some research and discussion with my SV, we had agree to change Arduino Ethernet Shield to Arduino Wi-Fi Sheild as the interface to connect my device to internet. The most reason why i change this Arduino is because, Arduino Wi-Fi Shield will directly connect my device into the internet. Compare to Ethernet Shield, this device need to be connected to the internet manually, which is the user need to connect the device by using their own Wi-Fi or internet connection.

What is Arduino Wi-Fi Shield ?
Arduino Wi-Fi Shield is another board in Arduino family. This board make the connection to Wi-Fi network simpler, no need the configuration in addition to the SSID and the password. This is th illustration of Arduino Wi-Fi Shield.

Features
Operating voltage both 3.3V and 5V
Connection via: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n for up to 72 Mbps networks
Encryption types: WEP and WPA2 Personal
Support TLS 1.1 (SHA256)
Connection with Arduino or Genuino on SPI port
On board Crypto Authentication by ATMEL

From all the characteristics of Arduino Wi-Fi Shield, it is very suitable for low-cost air quality monitoring system. This is because this project is using Wi-Fi as the main medium transmission. Besides that, Wi-Fi Shield is very easy to use with the Uno because Wi-Fi Shield is comes with an ‘easy to use library’ that allows Arduino Uno to connect to the internet with few instructions.
